Woodwarde Road

Woodwarde Road showcases a comprehensive refurbishment and extension of a semi-detached house in the Dulwich Conservation Area, transforming it into a contemporary haven while preserving its historic charm. With approvals from Southwark Council and Dulwich Estate, we embarked on creating an L-shaped dormer extension and a ground floor side and rear extension, seamlessly connected by a glazed boot room.

The existing structure, once dated and disconnected from its garden, now breathes new life. The previously converted loft, which suffered from a low ceiling and inefficient layout, has been transformed into a functional and inviting space. A newly designed staircase with a continuous handrail elegantly leads to the dormer extension, enhancing both accessibility and aesthetic appeal.

Inside, all bedrooms and bathrooms have undergone meticulous refurbishment. Original features have been lovingly restored and reintegrated, maintaining the home’s historical character while introducing modern comforts.

Crafted from reclaimed London stock brick, the ground floor extension harmonizes perfectly with the main structure of the house, preserving its classic appeal by using matching materials. The addition of curved brick corners and large, oversized windows and doors introduces a modern twist, creating a distinctive and elegant look.

Inside, the new extension features a beautiful kitchen and dining area, designed for both functionality and style. The open layout ensures a smooth flow, with large windows and doors that provide a fabulous connection to the garden. This garden also includes a spacious patio area, perfect for alfresco dining and entertaining.

This project exemplifies our commitment to blending the old with the new, creating spaces that are both timeless and contemporary. Woodwarde Road stands as a testament to our dedication to thoughtful design and our ability to reimagine spaces to meet the needs of modern living.
