Jerningham Road is a stunning example of our expertise in harmonizing modern design with historical settings. Located in the esteemed Telegraph Hill Conservation Area, one of London’s most complete Victorian enclaves, this project involved a ground floor side and rear extension to a semi-detached house, thoughtfully designed to enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
The extension features a sleek, modern appearance crafted from light-colored brick, ensuring it is distinct from the existing Victorian architecture and makes a contemporary statement. We like to make the story of the house clear by designing any additions to be modern in comparison to the host building. Large sliding glass doors and a corner glazed window flood the new living spaces with natural light, creating an inviting and open atmosphere.
A glass link connects the extension to the main body of the house, preserving the integrity of the original structure while providing a clear visual and physical transition between old and new. The lowered floor level of the extension has a better connection with the existing front basement, offering a free-flowing living space that effortlessly connects the living, kitchen and dining areas.
Jerningham Road showcases our commitment to creating innovative, stylish homes that respect their historical contexts while meeting the demands of modern living. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design can transform and elevate a space, providing an inspiring living environment for our clients.
