Chester Square represents the exquisite transformation of a Grade II listed townhouse in Belgravia, reimagined to form a timeless family home for modern living while preserving its historical charm. The period features were preserved, and new additions chosen to complement the space. Originally dated and compartmentalised, the residence now embraces an open and flowing layout that fosters modern elegance.
One of the standout features of this renovation is the relocation of the kitchen from the raised ground floor to the first floor. This strategic move has created an expansive, open-plan kitchen and living space that better connects with the outdoors. A striking bridge spans the lightwell, connecting the interior with the roof terrace. The walls of the lightwell are living walls which have beautiful climbing plants growing up them.
Addressing the issue of a dark main stairwell, we introduced a two-by-two metre sliding roof light above. This innovative addition not only channels natural light into the core of the house but also enables natural stack ventilation, efficiently dissipating heat during the summer months.
The lower ground floor has been meticulously designed to enhance relaxation and entertainment. A former bathroom has been transformed into a luxurious hammam, offering a serene retreat. Adjacent to this is a state-of-the-art cinema room, perfect for family movie nights or entertaining guests. Additionally, we have converted the under-pavement space into a sophisticated wine cellar, adding both functionality and a touch of opulence.
Chester Square is a harmonious blend of historical significance and modern luxury, tailored to create an inviting and functional sanctuary in the heart of Belgravia. This renovation exemplifies our commitment to thoughtful design and timeless elegance, offering an unparalleled living experience for discerning clients.
